Better late then never, right? Well, there wasn't a lot of subtext going on anyways and it took me some days to realize and to accept that the l word is really over. I'll mostly ramble about it in this post.
Last week's award for the slashiest couple goes to Bette and Tina! Why? Because it's the last chance I've got to give it to them and they were indeed veeery slashy. Not that hard for a canon couple, but their sex scene was so sweet and fun and tender. My shipper heart was happy. Especially when Bette said that she would like to marry Tina when they would get to New York. Aw *wipes away some tears of joy* they also deserve the award because they survived the final episode, they survived the craziness that was season 6 and everything Ilene did to them over the years. They are the last couple standing. Also the morning after scene was great, sitting on the steps, drinking coffee and enjoying each others company... Shane walking by... it was a nice tribute to the pilot.
Let’s talk a little bit longer about the final episode. First of all I have to say that I have made my peace with it. It wasn't easy; Ilene did a pretty good job with trying to piss off as many fans as possible. But we all knew in advance that there would be a lot of loose ends, answers and explanations we wanted would be denied and couples would be torn apart just because Ilene doesn't like to play nice.
Still... Damn you, Ilene, for breaking up Helena and Dylan. This was totally unnecessary. Dylan knew that it was a set up and she confided in Jenny? Seriously? Why would Dylan do such a thing?
Damn you for turning Tasha into a hypocrite, letting her act out of character and breaking her and Alice up. For me it wasn't a reunion when she came over to Bette's and Tina's home at the end. She only wanted to be there for her as a friend.
What the hell was Nikki doing in the bushes? That's suspicious. But for me Jenny killed herself. I can't see any of the others doing it and I have to believe it, because otherwise I would have to say that it was Bette. She was very angry and upset and had the best chance to kill her. But I can't see her doing it, then going back and watching the video. Besides eventually it could come out and Betty would go to jail, Alice would be released and the happy tibette ending wouldn't be happy any longer.
A lot of things went missing over the years... pets, people, Alice's bisexuality, Jenny's cutting problem, Shane's drug problem, Alice's pills problem, Helena's kids, Dana's ghost (what kind of a ghost haunts someone only for one time?) and so on. Sometimes the storylines were great, sometimes they were ridiculous, sometimes they were crazy. We loved characters, we hated characters and we didn't give a damn about some characters.
And even if Ilene keeps throwing crap at the fans with the interrogation vids (after six years without giving us a background story for Tina, we get incest? And Shane burned down WAX? Why would she do such a thing?)...
... The bottom line still is: I'm going to miss the show and the girls.
Honorable mention in the slash department goes to:
- Dollhouse. Echo and Claire. When Adele walked into Claire's office, Echo was putting her shirt back on. Medical examination? Oh yeah, I bet Claire examined Echo very thoroughly.
Honorable mention in the department 'made of win moment':
- TSCC. Cameron and the pigeon. "Goodbye, bird. There's a 51 % chance I wouldn't have killed you." Aw, such a cute and creepy terminator.
Feeling:

Date: 2009-03-17 12:43 pm (UTC)All those problems just disappeared and were never discussed again *sighs* and I'm still wondering why Shenny never had a real sex scene. I had/have quite some problems too with the ending and some plotlines during all seasons, but as I've said, I've made my peace with it. we unfortunately can't change what Ilene has made out of it :/ and I was very upset for quite a while.
